Wear you URFC t-shirts if you have them or colors black and red.

BILL WILL BE HEARD AT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BLDG.
On Thursday March 21st legislative bill SB1247 (residential care institutions; children ) will be heard in COMMITTEE ON HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES, Room 4 at the Arizona State Capitol, 1700 W. Washington St, Phoenix, AZ 85007.

SB1247 does not do everything we want to secure the safety, health and well-being of separated and unaccompanied immigrant children being detained.
We need your attendance at the hearing to demonstrate URFC presence on this issue and lobby for an independent oversight committee for facilities like Southwest Key Programs.

For an objective analysis and remedy to the failures of protecting children while being detained, we need an independent short-term oversight committee.

Where: 1700 West Washington Street; Phoenix, AZ 85007; Hearing Room 4
When: Thursday March 21
Hearing time: 8:00 a.m.
Agenda: https://www.azleg.gov/agendas/03210120121.pdf

Background: During this session, SB1493 & HB2722 , which would establish an independent oversight committee for  residential care facilities that house migrant children was not heard. These are solution oriented bills especially given abuse and failures to protect children in Southwest Key Program facilities  or links to SB1493 see https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/54leg/1R/bills/SB1493P.pdf; and HB2722 https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/54leg/1R/bills/HB2722P.pdf .

We need your attendance even if changes occur to the agenda.
